Two Truths and a Lie
A classic introduction game with a simple guess and a story behind the reveal.
Ready when you are.
How to play Two Truths and a Lie
- 1
One person writes or says two true statements and one false statement.
- 2
Everyone guesses which statement is false.
- 3
Reveal the answer and ask one follow-up about a true statement.
How to make the guessing fun
Ask for three statements of similar length. If one is much more detailed, the group may guess based on writing style instead of learning about the person. Give everyone a minute to prepare, read the statements in a mixed order, and let the group vote before revealing the lie.
For a remote call, put the three statements on a shared screen and ask for guesses in chat. For a classroom, let students write their guesses privately before anyone speaks. After the reveal, ask about one true statement so the game becomes a conversation.
Make it a good round
Keep the statements light and avoid facts that could embarrass someone. Allow a pass.
